If you are a returning visitor to either this website or to McGregor, then you will certainly have heard of McGregor Country Cottages - and you may very well number among the many thousands of happy guests who have stayed there during its 22 years of operation. After so many years it probably won’t come as too much of a surprise that it is now time for Margie Philip, the owner and founder, who is now in her 70’s, to retire to her cob house on the hill, passing the resort onto someone younger and more energetic. Indeed, if you are that person and have the energy, then you could be looking at a mini gold mine! The opportunity for expansion is tremendous! But please be quick - parts of the resort are selling off quickly!

In its heyday, McGregor Country Cottages was run as a resort with 8 cottages accommodating local and overseas guests, tour groups & hosting company conferences. Margie has consolidated the property over the past few years to make it easier to run and it now consists of 3 resort-owned dwellings, these being a mix of sensitively restored historical and charming, newly-built thatched cottages. Attached to one of the cottages is the "Buitekombuis" which doubles as the office, reception, dining room, pub and TV room. All of the cottages are fully equipped for self-catering, and the resort is covered by its own wireless internet hotspot. You can see McGregor Country Cottages page on this site. And remember, this is all set amongst apricot trees, rolling lawns, flower beds and a swimming pool & pool area for relaxing...... it is so very delightful...... fairytale....... it must be seen! The Options There are a variety of ways in which McGregor Country Cottages is available for sale, 2 as a going resort and also as several individual plots and cottages. Full details of the resort options are given on this page, together with brief details of the individual plots: for full details of the latter options, please see MOZ-01390 to 01393 on this site. Sub-division As an extra attraction to the purchaser of the resort, Margie has obtained subdivision on the property which will give many more options as to its use. For instance, McGregor Country Cottages could be purchased as a going concern which can be run as is, or expanded to include a restaurant, tea garden and more accommodation to host tour groups and conferences (It is ideal for an NGO headquarters or training retreat). Another option would be to purchase it as a combination of lifestyle and investment whereby the erfs can be developed over time and sold off. AA & SA Star Grading McGregor Country Cottages has been graded as Highly Recommended by the AA & awarded three stars by the South African Star Grading Council. The highest Star Grading for Self Catering is 4 Stars for Luxury Resorts. The Buitekombuis The Buitekombuis serves as a reception area and is like a large country kitchen. It has a wood-burning stove & seating for approximately 30 people around large Oregon tables with bunches of onions & herbs hanging from the original cane ceiling, and a cosy bar. There is an outdoor area in front of the reception/outdoor entertainment area which lends itself to the simple erection of an open air thatched boma with fireplace and plenty of seating. Bluegum (the main house) Bluegum, which adjoins the Buitekombuis, consists of a study/office/lounge, guest toilet, large prep kitchen, separate scullery, a laundry, storerooms. The main house living quarters include a large bed-sitter en-suite, two guest bedrooms, kitchenette and attic storage. There is also a store-cum-workshop area for handyman's use. Bluegum and the Buitekombuis together cover 450 m². Peppertree Cottage
